Top Three Organizing Products for Women On-the-Go

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

As I continue to grow in my role as a professional home organizer, I also continue to learn. My God, with every project I lead, do I learn. In the past year I have become more understanding of which project spaces I do well with and which I very much dislike, how to grow with feedback rather than negatively ruminate on it, and how gently or how firmly I am able to deliver my upkeep suggestions based on the personality of the client I am working with.

Whenever I begin working with a new client, I take the time to get to know her in order to 1) be a kind human and 2) gain the perspective I need to best serve her. Not only do I need to figure out what each client's goal for the space being organized is, but I also need to get an idea of which factors led the space to become disorganized in the first place (for coaching purposes), what her general aesthetic is, and how her lifestyle will impact the types of products I end up purchasing for her.

I have to say that the majority of the clients I have worked with thus far have been quite similar when it comes to their overall personality traits: they have been successful, ambitious, hard-working, entrepreneurial-minded women, all of whom have inspired me in one way or another in my own life and business ventures. Not only have their traits been comparable, but so have their needs to have their everyday items at the ready to grab-and-go. These amazing women have all had the world to conquer and, in turn, did not have the time to partake in actions like rummaging through stacks of clothing to find that one shirt, folding and putting away each and every undergarment, or searching through random drawers to locate a fresh AA battery.

If you sound like the women I have just described and find that you too could use some organizing solutions that would better suit your busy lifestyle, then check out my top three organizing products for grab-and-go thinkers below.

Product #1: Drawer Dividers

Ok, these things are an absolute game-changer. I have to admit, I had been an old-school clothing folder for the majority of my life. You know, the quick flip-in-the-sleeves-then-fold-in-half move that many of us grow up being taught. This style of fold is perfectly fine if you're stacking your items in an open-shelving unit, but when it comes to storing your clothing in drawers (which I can guarantee most of us do), folding and stacking just complicates things. Not only can you just see the garments on the very top layer, but when you're searching for a specific item, what happens? You end up having to dig around in your drawers, which ruins everything. Yup, back to messy drawers.

So, back to product numero uno: drawer dividers. Using adjustable dividers in your drawers allows you to set up sections which not only help with separating your items by style or color (if you even care about that), but more importantly, they allow you to file your items of clothing rather than stack them. Yes, to make this work you would have to modify your folding method to a roll or a trifold, but this has actually a preferred strategy for many of my clients. Also, if you have kids, they can easily learn to roll their clothing and assist with the folding and putting away process!

*If you end up wanting to try this product in your home, make sure you measure the length of your drawer first!

Product #2: Honeycomb Drawer Organizers

Honeycomb drawer organizers are the ultimate grab-and-go product. This product is weirdly satisfying to put together AND it helps to make your socks and undies look nice without even having to fold them! Yes, you heard me! You don't even have to fold them! Another perk of this product is that it can be added to or cut down to fit into any size drawer. Yet another perk is that you can use honeycomb organizers to separate things like belts, chunky jewelry, watches, or any other collections you have that can fit into 2"x2" spaces. Ok, one more perk... these things come in various colors, if you're matchy-matchy like me!

Product #3: Modular Bins

You may not think you need this one, but you do... These modular bins for organizing your junk drawer have got to be my absolute favorite product. Although I enjoy the nostalgia that digging through a drawer full of chalky rubber bands, lead-less pens, and old receipts brings me, as a mother-of-three who simply does not have the time to go on a legit scavenger hunt for the nail clippers, having an organized junk drawer is a must. These bins make keeping your most frequently-touched items separate from one another and, in turn, easier and quicker to locate. Because they come in various sizes, you can make these babies fit into just about any space!

Bonus Tip: Did you notice anything comparable between the three products shared in this post? They are all forms of open storage. No lids; no fuss. If you are a busy, on-the-go woman, I highly recommend investing in storage solutions that are open and provide you with the opportunity to "see your stock" all at once.

I hope this post was helpful to you and that you can use one or more of the products shared to create more functional, productive spaces in your home. As always, I'd love to hear your stories of growth; please feel free to share by commenting below or contacting me privately!
